2019 Regional Convention Highlights

The 2019 New England Regional  Convention is in the books! This was our 124th annual convention and it was held at the Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg, MA on May 16th and 17th.

The convention began Thursday, May 16th with lunch followed by free time to use the facilities of the lodge and for registration.

The Necrology program was held at 6pm; honoring our departed brothers and sisters. It was followed by the Roses for the Living ceremony. Rich Gosselin and Melissa Miranda from Tri City Council 823 received a rose, a rose pin and certificate to celebrate their service to their council.

PIP Keith Ward and his wife Connie along with PRP Scott Newcombe and his wife Beth also received roses and a certificate.

Dinner followed and the members were treated to beautiful violin music from Rich Gosselin during dinner.

Friday, May 17th began with the Chris Antonelli New England Scholarship meeting. The fund trustees granted a $70 scholarship to a deserving college student as well as a grant for $1000 to Boy Scout Troop 823, a special needs scouting troop for their summer camp.

The general session was opened at 9am by RP Scott Newcombe. All of the reports that are featured in our members area were read and approved by the members present

The installation of officers was conducted by PIP Keith Ward assisted by PIP Jim Walsh. The full complement of officers were duly installed into their respective positions.

The banquet was held following the installation. Manchester Council 195, home council of newly installed RP Yolande, treated the members to appetizers and a saxophone duet played before and during dinner. RP Yolande picked up the tab for everyone’s drinks prior to dinner.
